On Aug. 1, 2018, Chris Sedore began his tenure as vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at The University of Texas at Austin. Sedore leads the university’s information technology (IT) efforts, including the continued development and delivery of customer-focused IT solutions that enable the university community to pursue excellence in its research and educational mission. A progressive IT leader with a proven track record of success, Sedore has several years of diverse experience in driving technology and connectivity initiatives in higher education.
Prior to joining UT Austin, Sedore had served since 2016 as the president and chief executive officer for New York State Education and Research Network (NYSERNet), a nonprofit that provides technology and connectivity services to colleges, universities, museums, libraries and K-12 institutions.
Previously, Sedore served as the CIO at Syracuse University for six years, where he led a complete IT transformation that focused on providing advanced support for teaching, learning, and research and administrative needs. During his 25 years at Syracuse University, Sedore began his career as a systems programmer and advanced into senior leadership positions, including serving as associate vice chancellor for academic operations (overseeing IT, enrollment management, continuing education and institutional research) and senior vice president for enrollment management.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems from SUNY Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
